Traditional fiberglass insulation does not perform
to its labeled R-value. By having even small voids in the framing or
at the end of the batt(1-2% of the insulation area), a loss of 25-40% of the R-value may
be noticed. (per Kansas State University, Engineering Extension, Residential Insulation).

By utilizing closed-cell spray foam, a building can
be made considerably stronger. Even if studs are moved to 24" o.c. and a
lightweight sheating is used, a building can be stronger with closed-cell foam that with
traditional building materials and fiberglass batts.
Leed Credits are available through www.USGBC.org. By using foam insulation in
your new home, this fact alone can achieve over half of the points required
to have a Certified Leed Home.
